More Vintage Cross Stitch Quilt Kits..... Gradually I'm getting all my vintage quilt kits listed for sale. Time to reduce my collections!
Above is a single sized paragon cross stitch quilt kit based on a traditional applique pattern. There was a strong revival of interest in heritage quilts at about the time of the US Bicentennial in 1976, which also heralded a resurgence in quiltmaking that has not died down at all more than a quarter of a century later. This may be just the project you are looking for to dress up a spare room bed or give to a young girl. It's small enough to be doable, but with a good choice of colours will make a strong statement in a traditionally furnished room. PRICE: $135USD + shipping
Another lovely vintage cross stitch quilt top. This one is a large double/queen - definitely a queen and quite possibly a king. The colourway shown is the 1970's popular choice of blue and green but perhaps it will suit you to use for traditional colours - since there is no thread with this kit, that will be your choice. PRICE: $185USD + shipping This is another double/queen by Bucilla for cross stitch. This vintage quilt kit is a classic design with lots of green to tie the bright songbird colours together. This will make a lovely statement against many styles of interior decoration. Very tempting!! This vintage cross stitch quilt kit probably dates to the late 70's. PRICE: $175 + shipping Yet another classic, this time a vintage cross stitch quilt kit in king sized. I bought this in the late 1970's from Mary Maxim's in Paris Ontario and have had it stored away since then. Lovely colours make this a choice that will look good in most bedrooms and will provide a focal point. PRICE $175 + shipping
And finally, a somewhat more recent but still vintage cross stitch kit, from the early 1980's I think, and again by Bucilla. The colours suggested are lovely and although the pillow shams are not in this kit and I have not been able to find a pair to match, this is still a striking quilt kit. The price is certainly one that invites purchase of this hard to find kit. Again a queen/double size. SOME VINTAGE CROSS STITCH QUILT KITS First of all I want to express my apologies to those who have been waiting to see my new postings. I have had a series of computer glitches with my archaic dialup system refusing to grant the full kbps they boast of providing and with the tiny amount they are providing out here in the boonies at the end of their loop - it just isn't possible to publish a picture rich posting. So instead of a dozen or more pictures I am going to try to go with 3 for now and do another couple of posts later if all is ok.
My first picture is of a Paragon vintage kit for cross stitch embroidery - American Heritage. This is a gorgeous kit and has been started and has all the threads necessary to complete in the most scrumptious colours. The colours are much stronger and more intense than this picture indicates. Size is double/queen 82x97 inches and all you will need is batting, thread and backing. Price: $210 USD + shipping
Pictured above is Paragon's Baltimore Bride vintage quilt kit in double/queen for cross stitch embroidery. This kit was inspired by the amazing applique quilts that came out of the Baltimore area during the 1850's. I'm working on one of these kits right now and am loving the results. There is no thread kit with this item and I have never seen one but the listed numbers and number of skeins is on the package, so no problem. Price $165 USD + shipping

I have this lovely kit back in stock. It is Bucilla's American Eagle, or Liberty as it was known when marketed by Bucilla on behalf of 20 Mule Team Borax as a premium in 1976 during the bicentennial celebrations. No thread kit with this one but it is stunning with the colourway for 20 Mule Team, which was scarlet and royal blue. It would also lend itself nicely to a red, green and touches of ochre colour scheme so popular during the 1800's and before. Sized at 90x103 this top will finish to a good queen sized quilt. Price $195 + shippingLabels: bicentennial quilt kit, Bucilla Quilt kit, paragon and bucilla vintage cross stitch quilt kitsn, paragon quilt kits 4:49 PM

DECORATED FRAMES with MIRRORS by LEO NAUGLER I have been asked to post the Leo Naugler decorated frames with mirrors. The green one is approximately 17 inches square, with the frame 3 inches wide it is decorated with woodland motifs, pine tree, tent, fishing pole, anchor, heart and a pair of moored boats. It is dated 1999 and signed. There are no issues.
The second one is white and measures 15 by 21 inches. It is chip carved, like the first and has traditional rose flowering vines along the sides rather like an appliqued border on a quilt, and top and bottom are Leo's red and black finger-dots on yellow fish. I think these fish are his favourite motif and it makes me smile each time I see one of them! I do not call it an issue, just due to using greenish wood - the mitered seams of the frame, although tight at the outside edge, have opened a little toward the inside. I don't see this as something that needs to remedied, but everyone has their own opinion - just wanted you to know it is there, as it is in most of Leo's frames. On looking again at the green frame one corner is slightly open toward the inside edge. This frame is signed and dated 1999 on the back , actually in two places - the frame and on the mirror.

For those of you looking for further vintage quilt kit postings, I recently acquired a fantastic Paragon Applique kit and will post it and some wholecloth Doublestencil/Spartex quilt kits in the next day or so. Holiday Quilt Sale - save on favourable exchange rate

I want to remind folks in the United States of a currently very favourable rate of exchange. For close to a year the Canadian $ has been almost par with the USD. I've personally found this a lovely state of affairs as many of my purchases of fabric and quilting notions are made in the United States. Fortunately, I have a stash that would supply me for several lifetimes, so I can forego purchases right now.
For residents of the United States, looking at purchasing Holiday gifts for their family and friends, I have some smaller quilts that currently are a very good deal. Check out http://xe.com/ for daily exchange rates. At the moment, for every $100 canadian purchase you make, you are paying only $81 US - and if you decide to purchase one of my completed quilts or commission a completely unique quilt for yourself I am prepared to offer free shipping in addition. I think you will agree that this is a very attractive offer.
For example, my little Holly Hobbie 1972 Paragon quilt made from the original vintage kit is now priced at $235 Cdn or $190 USD. Pictured below, the little quilt is crib sized and has a hanging sleeve so it can be used as a wallhanging in the nursery, if you prefer. SOLD Holly Hobbie Quilt June 2009
I have another crib quilt, again with a hanging sleeve that is called Beach Teddies. Ordinarily I don't "do" what are called panels as I find they are so frequently of questionable quality, colour and design. This one, though, I fell in love with - from the nautical theme, the country colours and the very good design that Theresa Kogut is known for. This was "recreation" while doing a huge predominantly black Amish type quilt last summer and I was so delighted with the results. Usually panel quilts are only minimally quilted and often it is machine quilting. This one received my meticulous care and handquilting that brings out all the details. I will post a picture shortly. As always, 100% cotton materials - top, backing, batting and thread. Price: $195 CDN or as of today, $158 USD. My last completed quilt is a small wallhanging or table topper I call Lavender Parterre. This is an all original design of mine that of course is hand appliqued and hand quilted. It would look exquisite as a table topper on a victorian tea table in your sunroom this winter, wouldn't it?
SOLD APRIL 19/09 Price is $175 Cdn, or $140 USD.
I will soon post many new listings of vintage quilt kits: Doublestencil, Progress/Tobin, Bucilla and Paragon. I have finished my inventory now and have a handle on my treasure trove!! After the Christmas rush I hope to start inventory on my vintage and antique quilt tops - there's another great project I'm sure you'll be interested in. Tomorrow I will post the schedule for my Holiday Open House weekends. Hope to see you soon out my way!

More vintage Bucilla and Paragon quilt kits Here are several pictures of cross stitch quilt kits I currently have for sale. The first pictire is of the thread kit that goes with the cs quilt kit "Americana Eagle" by Bucilla - the kit is a double, cut size is 90x103. This quilt kit was produced by Bucilla as a premium with saved purchase vouchers from 16 Mule Team Borax during centennial year - 1976 - I can only guess at how many boxes of Mule team you had to buy!!! Lol.
SOLD! Above is a very recent purchase I have made - this is a very rare one and I have been watching for it for a long time now! Again, this is a double/queen Paragon cross stitch kit dated 1974 #01119 measuring 97x97. No thread kit. SOLD April 15/09 Price: $200
Thanks to all the folks who have come out and visited this weekend. Stayed tuned for a post Thanksgiving announcement of my Christmas Open House schedule!

Quilt Making Again!
The other day, while waiting out another storm-related power outage, I decided to stitch down the binding on this sweet little vintage Holly Hobbie quilt. I had put the quilt aside, almost finished, in order to work on a couple of small commissions I need to get finished soon, but today I didn't have enough light to work on these.
This lovely little kit was aquired some years ago and I had put it together over the winter and finished handquilting it and begun to bind it - so close, but not a finish until now. There is a regulation 4 inch hanging sleeve on back, with the piece of printed identifying fabric from the bottom of the panel attached - so its provenance goes with it.
It was a Paragon 1972 quilt kit containing a backing, batting and the quilt panel. It brought back nice memories of my daughter, who was a toddler at that time.
Anyway, it's finished now and for sale. Price is $235 USD which includes shipping
