Quilt Show: Quilts at the Harbour 13

an overview of this historic church during the 2009 show

885 West Hall’s Harbour Road,United Baptist Church, location of Quilts at the Harbour 13th Annual Show and Sale

I’ve noticed people are starting to search for information on the Quilt Show and Sale held each fall in Hall’s Harbour, so decided I’d better post on it in lots of time for people to start making plans to visit that weekend and/or exhibit their quilts.

QUILTS AT THE HARBOUR 13th ANNUAL QUILT SHOW AND SALE:

will be held on Saturday September 24 from 10AM to 5PM and Sunday September 25 from Noon until 5PM

at: Hall’s Harbour United Baptist Church, 885 West Hall’s Harbour Road at the corner of Sullivan Road

Admission by Free Will offering and refreshments are free. There is expected to be a bakesale as well and this is always a crowd pleaser!

For quilters, we always have a “gently used” table full of books, magazines, notions and loads of patterns and fabric – always very tempting!

We welcome quilters to exhibit their items either for sale or for viewing only and we welcome exhibitors from outside our immediate area – the more the merrier!!!

We are expecting lots of quilts and this year there will be some vintage and antique ones for sale as well some vintage embellished bedlinens, both North American and imported from France.

Quilters are already planning and working on quilts that will be on show, so it is expected to be an interesting weekend.

There is ample parking, bus tours are welcome, and the building is wheelchair accessible.

All donations at the door, and a 20% commision on all sales is given to the church and we are usually able to raise between $600 and $700 which helps to support and sustain this lovely small and historic church built in the 1840’s and actively serving the community to this day.

For more information on how to enter your quilts for the show, check my blog: http://www.quiltingwithjanet.blogspot.com

Hoping to see you in September at Quilts at the Harbour 13!!

Quilts at the Harbour 12th Annual Show and Sale next weekend!

It’s hard to believe the summer is long gone and the annual quilt show and sale in Hall’s Harbour is fast approaching.

The show – Quilts at the Harbour 12th Annual Show and Sale will be taking place next weekend at the West Hall’s Harbour United Baptist Church at 885 West Hall’s Harbour Road. Enter Hall’s Harbour via Highway 359 and follow the road past the wharf and around past the Lobster Pound and stay on the paved road, travelling about 2 km until you see the small white church on your right, facing the sideroad, Sullivan Road – that comes in from the west.

The show will be Saturday Sept 25 from 10 until 5PM and on Sunday from Noon until 5PM. There will be, as always, a wonderful display of quilts, many of which will be for sale; and in addition in the fellowship room there will be tables of quilters’ gently used items as well as a bake table and delicious refreshments. A freewill offering is encouraged. Twenty percent of all proceeds from the sale of items at the show will be  going to the church, as will the proceeeds from the bake sale and freewill offering.

This is also a wonderful opportunity to view this lovingly maintained heritage church dating to the 1840’s with original furnishings, and if it’s a nice day many will also stroll in the cemetery and visit the graves of the early settlers who are buried here.

Come out and meet a group of friendly welcoming people who are keen to talk quilts, sustainable communities and heritage sites  - it’s always nice to see what other people are doing in the way of quiltmaking – lots of ideas, books, patterns, fabric and other notions too!

See you there!

QUILT SHOW – QUILTS AT THE HARBOUR 10

Attached are two documents that give all the particulars of our annual quilt show – Quilts at the harbour 10.
It’s hard to believe that this is out 10th year holding this show! We’re looking forward to seeing all our old friends and making lots of new ones, too.
Remember, all freewill offerings and 15% of the sale price of all merchandise and quilts will go to help sustain this lovely small rural church!

See you there!

QUILT SHOW AND SALE – waiting!

Well, we’ve done it – Grace and I and our helpers on the bake table and refreshments beat have done all that can be done to make our 9th Annual Quilts at the Harbour Show and Sale a success. We now sit on the edge of a vacuum, not knowing and not being able to control whether it will be a success or not – we should be used to this helpless feeling – been there and done that 8 previous times and each time has been a success so that should tell us something – it doesn’t! We go through the same angst year after year (smile). We have some new exhibitors this year and wish you could come and see.
For some reason the map of Hall’s Harbour won’t upload this morning, so if you need it to find the quilt show, scroll all the way down the page through the older posts and you will find it.
The quilt show and sale takes place Saturday September 29, 2007 from 10 until 5PM and Sunday September 30 from noon until 5PM. You can drop off quilts and other items for display and sale from 6 to 7:30 Friday September 28, 2007 and after 9:30 Saturday morning.
Remember, for those coming to browse or buy, admission is by freewill offering, refreshments are free and there will be a bake table.
All freewill donations, bake table proceeds and 15% of the sales goes to benefit the church – last year over $600 was raised.
Come out and enjoy a fall day in the country in a lovely small heritage church, among friendly welcoming people.
