Welcome to the website of Hall's Harbour Handcrafts, located close to the ruggedly beautiful Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia, on Canada's East coast. My quilt studio is in my 1820's heritage home, surrounded by trees and wild gardens. Enjoy the peace and serenity which inspires my work. Visit the nearby fishing village of Hall's Harbour where you can observe the action of the world's highest tides. Visit artists' studios, hunt for antiques and sample seafood and lobster. If you wish to stay a while, there are several bed and breakfasts in the village and lots of other things to do and see nearby. If you cannot visit my studio in person, rest
assured that my custom quilts are made in the traditional way - entirely
by hand every step of the way. They are made of the finest available
100% cotton materials in a smoke-free home, and are truly one-of-a-kind.

Wednesday, May 20, 2009 THOUGHTS ON VINTAGE APPLIQUE KITS I've been pulling together and checking a couple of lovely vintsge quilt kits that are due to go out to their new owners tomorrow. I'm impressed all over again at the high quality and good design that has gone into these kits; and all over again, I wish I had time to stitch these up. Neither of them are readily available any more on the secondary market and although I will try to replace them for my inventory I doubt I will be able to. While trolling through my storage system to pull these for mailing, I came upon two glorious kits I had almost forgotten I had and the one that I will check and photograph tomorrow appears to be completed or almost so - it is an extremely rare and very vintage one that judging by the fragile and shattered paper black and white picture dates from the late 1930's or early 1940's - a rare treasure indeed. I will first offer it (as is) for sale, but may very well decide to finish it for sale through my website and quilt studio or at one of several quilt shows I will be exhibiting at this summer. The two pictured above are going to give much joy to their new owners. Labels: Progress/Tobin Tree of Life quilt kit, Spartex Doublestencil quilt kits 1:25 PM
