Welcome to the website of Hall's Harbour Handcrafts, located close to the ruggedly beautiful Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia, on Canada's East coast. My quilt studio is in my 1820's heritage home, surrounded by trees and wild gardens. Enjoy the peace and serenity which inspires my work. Visit the nearby fishing village of Hall's Harbour where you can observe the action of the world's highest tides. Visit artists' studios, hunt for antiques and sample seafood and lobster. If you wish to stay a while, there are several bed and breakfasts in the village and lots of other things to do and see nearby. If you cannot visit my studio in person, rest
assured that my custom quilts are made in the traditional way - entirely
by hand every step of the way. They are made of the finest available
100% cotton materials in a smoke-free home, and are truly one-of-a-kind.

Saturday, May 16, 2009 AN AMISH-STYLE LAP QUILT  Above is my very latest finish - a strippy Amish style quilt top just waiting to be handquilted once I decide in conjunction with its new owner on the patterns to be used. It is a square 60x60 inches, which is a lapquilt size. It is striking - girly without being cutesy. I have been going through my stash of solid coloured fabrics - mostly high quality Kona cottons for two recently received commissions, and can't help playing with colour combinations as I do so. I found two jewel like shades of jade green with lots of yardage and of course put them together to return to storage; and at the same time started looking through my pinks, cerise and lighter purples, and found three more singing jewel tones! I couldn't resist it - I had to make a quilt out of these clear and very lovely colours, and so of course, I did. This quilt will be priced at $950 USD , delivery to your door included, and will be closely handquilted in tradition amish motifs.
