Something New

I’ve recently been making some needlecases, xmas tree ornaments and bookmarks as a change of pace from quilting – great when I want to sit back and put my feet up at the end of the day.
Of course, I haven’t been able to stop at just a few and it struck me that all you Quilt Guild members and Red Hat Ladies might like some of these one of a kind, carefully handcrafted miniature treasures to use as “Secret Sister” gifts or small door prizes. I can ship one or several to you in a small envelope via airmail, and prices quoted are in Canadian Dollars – I take Paypal based on credit card or preferably bank account funding and also accept personal cheques in US dollars, no money orders please as they are sometimes hard to cash here.

1) Counted cross stitch Antique Floral Vine bookmarks and assorted Christmas Ornaments are $11.00, shipping included.

2) Needlecases in assorted patterns – specify wool felt applique or cross stitched Miniature Quilt or scenery – are $13.00, shipping included.

These items are available in limited quantities and are painstakingly stitched in gorgeous colours. Satifaction guaranteed.

Will post some new quilt pictures soon – hopefully of my award winning quilt, which has now gone to a new home in Ontario.

A one-of-kind hand-appliqued queen sized quilt

This is a quilt that was commissioned by the IWK Children’s Hospital Auxiliary as their raffle quilt for the large fair they hold annually in Halifax. The picture was taken at the fair as I had not gotten a picture of it before it went out to them. Made entirely by hand and only the finest quilt-shop quality 100% cotton fabric was used. The batting was also a very fine 100% cotton that drapes beautifully. I can make a similar quilt for you – contact me at: mailto:janet@novascotiaquilts.com

Quilts at the Harbour 7 Show and Sale

Today I want to remind all my friends of our community’s 7th annual quilt show and sale which will take place on Saturday September 24, 2005 from 10AM to 5PM and on Sunday September 25, 2005 from Noon until 5PM at the West Hall’s Harbour United Baptist Church on West Hall’s Harbour Road – go through the village, past the Lobster Pound and on up the paved road about 2 km – the church is on the right.
This is a wonderful, friendly and relaxed event where large quilts are displayed beautifully over the pews and church furniture of a lovely small heritage church dating to the 1840’s, and a light lunch, bake table, quilter’s gently used table and smaller items are in the attached Sunday School room.
Wheelchair accessible, free will offering and commission on each sale goes to support this lovely small community church. Interesting and historic cemetery adjacent.

I promised you some pictures…now I can post!!!!

This is a picture aken from my doorstep after a winter storm. The snow is lying over 5 feet deep in my dooryard. If you look closely, you can see the roof of my white Toyota peeking up through the drift. Do you feel cooler?

This is a sweet little hand appliqued quilt top approximately 42 by 56 inches which was made sometime in the thirties, judging by the fabrics used. I can complete this one-of-a-kind quilt top using 100% cotton batting and a backing suitable to the period and it will look darling on a baby or toddler’s bed. It is clean and crisp, and the fabrics are strong and unfaded. In case you want to hang it, it will have a 4inch wide hanging sleeve.
I can send this on its way to you, completed, for $275 CDN, shipping included. Completion will take 6 weeks from time of order. I can accept credit cards through Paypal.
